Basel, Switzerland

As you might remember our last stop was in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, and the submitter of the photo was Pedro Vilas-Boas a friend of mine. Now we head to Switzerland, Basel, and the submitter is Pedro again.

He took this photo in the Marktplatz right in the Market Square of the city.

Have you been there? What do you think about it? =)

Lost and Found

Dear travellers I hereby launch a new section on this blog, the "Lost and Found".

I have received the following picture through our e-mail.

The user that sent the image would like to know if any of our visitors can identify the location of this restaurant and who might be the gentleman on front of it. The only leads that the sender has are that the picture was probably taken in The Netherlands in the years of 1975 or 1976.

Do you recognize it? Have you ever been there? Can you help us find it?

Please leave any information you might have on our comment box or send it by e-mail. Also don't forget to send your pictures from McDonald's restaurants around the world. The journey must go on!

McDonald's "World Events"

Sometime ago I received or saw this picture somewhere, unfortunately I can't remember where, so I apologize to its author.

I immediately thought that I should put it here in the blog, because it was quite funny. So I'm starting this category "McDonald's 'World Events'", where I'll put pictures like this one:

I think everyone has seen the picture in which this work is inspired. The original photo is named "Raising the flag in Iwo Jima<" and "is a historic photograph taken on February 23, 1945, by Joe Rosenthal. It depicts five United States Marines and a U.S. Navy corpsman raising the flag of the United States atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II."

So if you have pictures like this and think it should be on this blog, contribute! =)

Dublin, Republic of Ireland

From Italy to the Republic of Ireland.

These time it was a friend of mine, Pedro Vilas-Boas, that sent me these photos. He had gone in vacations to Dublin and decided to take some pictures of a local McDonald's restaurant to share with us.

Pedro told me that this restaurant is situated in the O'Connell Street, in the heart of Dublin, close to a Ireland's partial independence symbol, the building of the General Post Office.

He sent a couple more photos together with this one and this time I decided to add one more. I think it might be good to have not only the picture of the restaurant but a bit of the surrounding area, whenever possible.

And so here it is a picture of the said street:

Thank you for your contribution Pedro!

See you next time. Don't forget to send your pictures in! =)

Milan, Italy

Shhhh, don't make too much noise, because this has been so quiet that the pictures are sleeping...

Also I'm sorry for the spider webs, I know I should clean it more, but I've been lazy and lacking in pictures, so I haven't been around it.

But back to the subject. This time I'm posting a picture from a McDonald's restaurant in Milan, Italy. This one is in the Galleries "Vittorio Emanuele".

This picture was sent to me by a friend of mine who is a flight attendant at TAP Portugal.

You can also send me your pictures via e-mail. Don't let this blog die! Please... oh well, enough crying. =)

See you next time!

McDonald's FAIL Picture

I've been quite silent for some time, but I haven't received anymore pictures of McDonald's, so the blog will be idle.

Anyway today I received a link for a nice McDonald's FAIL Picture, and thought about sharing with you.

Taken from the FailBlog.org . Thanks to JVale for sharing with me.

Warsaw, Poland

I know this blog has been a bit quiet lately, but my classes have started and I've been focused on that and other projects.

Anyway I still have some pictures stored that were sent by some friends that have been abroad, so I'll try to keep posting as regularly as possible.

The last post was about a restaurant in London and now we will travel east to the center of Europe, directly to Poland.

Shamelessly the picture that I'm posting was not sent by my friends in Poland but by a friend of mine of Portugal that has been there in September.

I'd told him not to forget to take pictures and he did not! Thank you Zé!

So here it is a picture of a McDonald's Restaurant in Warsaw.Have you been there? =)

See you next time!

London, United Kingdom

Hello!

I hope you all had great vacations period in dreamland places. Mine were great and sunny! I also hope you had the chance to take some pictures so we can continue our journey.

Leonor, a friend of mine from Portugal, has traveled a bit and she sent me the first picture from a McDonald's restaurant in the United Kingdom. And what a great way to start visiting the land of Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II, starting right from the heart of it, London.

The picture she sent me is from the famous road junction, know as Piccadilly Circus.

I know it might seem that this is the wrong blog for this picture and that Sanyo will be very happy for it. But I like pictures to which you can look and guess the place where they were taken.

For those of you with some difficulties in identifying the McDonald's restaurant I've made an helping drawing.

See you in the next post. Send me your pictures!

Geneva, Switzerland

The Eurocup 2008 is over, congratulations to Spain, but the pictures of the event will last for ever. More so in the minds of people, specially the ones who lived it closer.

I still remember Eurocup 2004 here in Portugal, the party, the people in the streets, the football, and unfortunately I also remember the final which Portugal lost against Greece. But that's life.

Anyway back to the point, this time the leap is small, we jump from Munich to Geneva in Switzerland.

This picture was taken by a flight attendant friend of mine who was in Geneva during the Eurocup. In the picture, besides the quite big McDonald's restaurant, we can see some traces of the Eurocup, specially the people with Portugal's national team t-shirts on the left.

It must have been some amazing days in Geneva.

Keep sending your photos!

Munich, Germany

After a small visit to Portugal we go back to the center of Europe, and for the third time to Germany, namely to Munich.

And I'm very pleased because this was also sent by e-mail, this time by Marta Boaventura, from Portugal.

Once again the McDonald's restaurant is really close to a Burger King restaurant, but from the picture it seems that McDonald's cares more about their image.

I really like the balloons on the top of the entrance.

Edit: This restaurant is located in the "Tal Street", near Marienplatz. And guess what, was taken specially for this blog!

Thank you Marta for this contribution!

Don't be shy and send your photos, and you can even add some small text that I will put in the post, tell us a story, tell us a bit about why did you take the picture, share!

See you around!

Évora, Portugal

We now go back to Europe, and finally to Portugal. As a Portuguese fan of McDonald's it's strange not having any picture of a restaurant in Portugal. But this will be corrected now.

João Alves from Portugal sent me a picture of a restaurant in the city of Évora, a beautiful city in the south center of Portugal, in the region of Alentejo. Évora is well know by its Roman Temple, the temple of Diana built in the first century.

The picture sent by João is not awesome, I guess it was taken with a mobile phone, but since it's the first from Portugal I think it is worthy to be shown here.

Hong Kong, China

For the first time since this journey begun we are going outside Europe. And this is not a small leap, we are going to Hong Kong, one special administrative region of People's Republic of China, which is 9988,01 kilometers from Toulouse where we were before.

The first picture was taken inside a Shopping Center in the city, but the sender didn't tell the name of the place.

And the second picture is from one advertisement of some new McDonald's product, it sure looks tasty.
The photos were sent from a friend of mine who has been on vacations in Hong Kong, but not only friends of mine can participate on this journey, you also can! Do it, mail me your photos!

See you around the world.

Toulouse, France

After going to Spain we are back to France. Namely to Toulouse.

This picture was sent by José Mário Branco, from Portugal, and it is from the McDonald's near the Capitole of Toulouse.

Keep sending your photos! Let's go around the world faster!

Barcelona, Spain

From Denmark to Spain, more precisely to Barcelona.

This picture was sent by a friend of mine that has been in Barcelona. It is from a McDonald's located in La Rambla a very famous place in Barcelona.

Don't miss it if you go there!

Aarhus, Denmark

Back to Denmark, this time to Aarhus the second biggest city in Denmark.

This picture is only from the Mcdonald's, but this one has a nice flag with the golden M. It was taken in one shopping street in Aarhus.

Posting at this time makes me hungry.

Kristiansand, Norway

Today I received the first external contribution to this journey. It's true that it's from someone I know, but it was someone to whom I haven't asked for photos, yet!;)

This time we go to Kristiansand in Norway, the fifth largest city in Norway.

This McDonald's has a singular facade, that gives this restaurant an impressive look.
Be aware that, like in any McDonald's and I think other fast food restaurants, in this restaurant you will pay more if you buy to eat in the restaurant than if you take-away.

Paris, France

Bienvenue à Paris!

Like any major city in Europe, and not only in Europe, Paris has many McDonald's restaurants, this is just our first stop in the French capital, and we might go back there.

It was taken near the "Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle". In the picture you can also see the famous Mammoth that "lives" there, and which is a great amusement for children.

If you go to Paris don't forget to visit the Museum and when you hungry you can just eat something at the McDonald's.

If you have any pictures from McDonald's around the world and you'd like to help this blog, send them to me.

Hamburg, Germany

When I was in Hamburg I didn't actually take a picture of a McDonald's restaurant, but I found it really funny to see this McDonald's ad.

Like if it was saying "Hey, it's McDonald's time, go!".

I found it even more funny because in the background you can see the entrance for Burger King, just as if the ad was telling people to run from that evil place!

Don't forget to send me your pictures.

Cologne, Germany

I took this picture in an InterRail, when I passed by Cologne. The picture is not great, but you can see the Cathedral of Cologne in the backgroud, amazing building!

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

This picture is from one McDonald's in Amsterdam, near the Central Train Station and in the street that leads to Madame Tussauds' Wax Museum.

You can see the Central Station on the back.
